Ramana’s Garden Seva Samiti.

Ubication:  Rishikesh – India

Project located in the north of India, in the city of Rishikesh. It is a shelter and a school that for the last 20 years has hosted orphans or children at risk, from different parts of India and from rural areas of Nepal.

The shelter has space for 65 children. Here they find a safe home, a good diet, health care, education and the possibility of pursuing university studies or professional training. They perform musical and artistic activities, learn English and classical Indian dance.

The school educates 200 children (From pre-school to Primary school) from surrounding villages, many of whom have to walk several hours each day. Classes are taught by 12 teachers. Lunch is provided to all children in the school and other needs such as medical care, clothing or school support classes are also covered.

The project also has an organic farm and orchard.

Over the years Ramana’s Garden has counted on volunteers from many corners of the world, who, contributing their skills and knowledge, have helped to develop the project and improve the day to day lives of these children.

Ramana’s Garden was the project that inspired us to create the Fundación Ramana. We have collaborated with them constantly since 2002 through a programme of sponsorship of children, donations, solidarity events and volunteering.

All members of the Fundación Ramana board are volunteers of Ramana’s Garden, so there is a strong emotional bond with the project.
